List of all COVID-19 informational sites (and GitHub projects) per prefecture in Japan with case counts, tests, and more
This article will list all the efforts by individual tech volunteers and organizations alike for each Japanese prefecture aggregating and presenting basic and easily-consumable regional data regarding COVID-19, an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 (also sometimes called the novel coronavirus).
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is providing open-source data for each prefecture, and so with coordination by Code for Japan, each prefecture has a website available in multiple languages — not just Japanese — with the goal of providing updated information in a way that is easier for humans to read and base their actions on.
Most, if not all, of the sites have very interesting and potentially useful information regarding case counts in the prefecture (split up between positive tests, hospitalized individuals, mild symptoms vs. severe symptoms, deaths, and discharged patients).
This article provides the information in English in an attempt to spread the word to not only refer to these sites but also potentially even contribute to their open-source GitHub projects.
If you live in the U.S., you can refer to the CDC’s official COVID-19 website for its updated guidelines.
Prefectures are listed in English alphabetical order.
